Steve Chainani

Vice Chairman & Managing Partner, North America

Mr. Steve Chainani is a US technology leader, experienced CEO and Founder of award-winning, international technology firms across North America and Asia spanning semiconductors, software and systems, e-commerce and social media.

Mr. Chainani has 25 years of experience spanning Wall Street, Silicon Valley start-ups, technology, marketing, finance, strategy and leadership. He is currently the CEO of Milnaa, Inc & Realhub.com, Inc and the President of American Devices, Inc.

Milnaa.com is a patented, next generation of hybrid social-business-government media-communications platform. Realhub.com is a global real estate transactional services platform and portal that is currently under beta launch. American Devices is a developer of advanced web based technologies, empowering people and businesses to interact in a richer, more meaningful format. He was previously Managing Director at Tristar Partners, LLC – an award winning builder of luxury homes.

Steve is an accomplished thought leader and speaker on technology & economic issues. An avid deep sea sailor, Steve has sailed in locations around the globe. He divides his time between New York and California.
He is an Electrical Engineer, Economist and holds a post graduate Business Management degree from Pepperdine University’s The George L. Graziadio School of Business and Management.

Rajiv Bhatia

Group Managing Partner

Mr. Rajiv Bhatia is the Group Managing Partner @ Indus and has spent the bulk of his middle career in Australia. He has held senior line roles with Lend Lease, was Asia Pac Vice President with AC Nielsen.consult and a Partner with Australian Consulting Partners. Whilst in Australia, he has operated a mixed asset class property portfolio of over half a million sq meters and also acquired deep consulting experience and served clients across the Asia Pacific in strategy, e commerce , supply chain optimization, asset management and supply-demand economics across the retail, infrastructure, utilities, real estate, energy, financial services and telecommunications domains.

After a career spanning 16 years in Australia and the Asia Pacific, he returned to India in 2005 and in his previous roles led Inorbit Malls, a K Raheja Corp group company as Chief Executive Officer and then the K Raheja group as Chief Strategy Officer. As CEO of Inorbit, he drove the development, leasing & operations of several million sq ft of retail real estate. He is a recognized thought leader in the strategy and real estate arena with a particular focus on green development, shareholder value and corporate alignment. He was also the Chief Operating Officer – Retail & Real Estate @ Grauer & Weil (India) Limited, a listed diversified company headquartered in Mumbai & operating globally. He currently serves on the global board of Milnaa Inc, a social networking enterprise.

As a result of his versatile experience, he has the distinction of belonging to a small group of top executives in India, who have both led a large organization as CEO and served clients at a Partner level in an international consulting capacity.

An avid reader and book collector, a military buff and a keen student of military strategy & geo politics for over three decades, Rajiv has taken particular interest in the military/strategic implications of the shifting balance of economic power and has occasionally written on the subject.

Rajeev Kapur

Managing Partner – Aviation & Aerospace

Mr. Rajeev Kapur leads Indus’s aviation & aerospace practice and is a recognized industry leader in the aviation MRO (maintenance, repair & overhaul) space with a total aviation experience of over 4 decades.

Over three decades of this were spent @ Air India, one of the world’s flagship airlines, culminating is his appointment as the airline’s Executive Director of Engineering. In that role he was responsible for all worldwide line and major maintenance of Air India fleet of B747-400/300, B777-200 and Airbus A310 aircraft & various component shops and led a team of over 3500 staff.

During his career, he has accumulated extensive experience in designing and setting of large projects involving MROs for Aircraft, Engines and Auxiliary Power Units. In his consulting career post Air India, he has advised a large large chemical and paints manufacturing company and Paramount Airways. While @ Air India, he led the JV between Boeing and Air India for setting up of a large aircraft MRO in Nagpur costing over USD 100 million.

Mohan Ayyangar

Managing Partner, Technology

Mr. Mohan Ayyangar is versatile and seasoned business leader with an entrepreneurial streak, and a deep passion for information technology and operations. In a career spanning over two decades, he has built resilient and scalable core foundations for dynamic and successful businesses in the telecom, technology and cross-border professional services verticals. He has a history of successful partnerships with cross cultural executive leadership teams where he simplified and translated visions and strategies into working operational models.

Mohan has spent the latter half of his career helping build a top tier alternative Legal Services Business called Pangea3, which was acquired by Thomson Reuters. As COO & CTO, he designed the operating principles and built the operating environment including the technology stack and process solutions for the delivery of outsourced legal services to GCOs at Fortune 100 companies, and partners at AMLAW 100 and Magic Circle Firms. At Pangea3, he led an industry first implementation of a Six-sigma and LEAN inspired continuous improvement framework for the legal services sector. Mohan played a key role in growing this business from a 15-person startup operation in 2005, to a multi-shore multi-center,1800 people $80M + operation in 2016.

Mohan spent the first half of his career as a technology professional predominantly in the GSM telecom OSS/BSS domain. This involved a 10-year stint with Hutchison Max Telecom (Now Vodafone India), where he dedicated most of his time building datacenters and software solutions for Sales, CRM and Contact Center Services with automated hooks to the core network switches and VAS systems. Mohan also did a short consulting stint that involved presales and implementation of Oracle’s E-business Suite components in the telecom, airlines sectors.

Mohan is a people person with a hands-on leadership style. He believes that building and motivating high performance teams with a strong cultural identity that fuel performance and innovation is the only way to deliver sustainable success. Mohan takes keen interest in automotive mechanics and in Automotive and Industrial Design. He is an avid petrol-head and road traveler.

US Pandey

Managing Partner – Hydrocarbons & Refining

Mr. US Pandey is an industry leader in the oil refinery and petro-chem business in India and helms Indus’s practice in that space.

He served Bharat Petroleum Corporation @ a senior executive level and in his previous line role was responsible for 16 MMTPA capacity Grass Root Oil Refinery & Petro-Chemical Complex with a project cost of US$ 5 billion. He was also directly responsible to set up a Twin-Berth Liquid Cargo Jetty at the Jawaharlal Nehru Port near Mumbai. During his tenure at BPCL, he has served across multiple functions and advised on Engineering & Projects, Retail Business, Planning, Infrastructure Development, All India Operations ,Supply Chain Logistics, Jetty & port Facilities Establishment & its Operations, Introduction of Branded Products (Speed – MS, Hi Speed Diesel), Bio-fuel (Bio-Ethanol / Bio-diesel) ,Renewable Energy Projects (Grid Connected Wind / Solar Farms), Corporate Affairs – Formulation of Joint Venture Cos. & MOUs for strategic alliance etc.

He has also provided policy advice to the Government of India in formulating its National Bio-diesel Policy 2009.

He serves on the board of Chemie-Tech WLLSharjah and is also the Vice President of the Bombay Productivity Council. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Allahabad.

Hoshedar Mody

Partner – Information & Data Systems

Mr. Hoshedar Mody is Partner, Information & Data Systems @ Indus Asset Advisers.

He celebrates 30 + years in IT and Software and has been collaborating and working with the “Big 5”. He is a hands-on techie Nerd now into the arena of Technical Architecture with a focus on BI and other Enterprise Level BI along with an emphasis on Big Data.

He has extensive experience in Performance Engineering and Strategic design and development of Automated Testing Solutions. He has done stints with NTT Data, TCS, Deloitte, Tech Mahindra, Microsoft, DHL, Marlborough Stirling, and Port of Seattle & Atos Origin. He has also worked in Germany for Travel related mining and interactive solutions and Dynamic Web Content Management Solutions. Seeks to manage solutions for Clients in the new arena of NoSQL with a penchant for Big Data related Technologies.

Hoshedar holds a Masters Degree in Commerce with a Major in Management from the University of Mumbai and an Associate Degree (Diploma ) from the National Computing Centre ( UK). He divides his time between Toronto & Mumbai.
